UT Muslims holds its first trip to Keukenhof in 2017. Keukenhof is one of the largest flower garden in the world. It offers various types of flowers which are arranged beautifully to give a breathtaking view. It is one of the most popular tourists attractions in the Netherlads and opens only from March to May every year. Thus tickets are always in high demand. The popularity of keukenhof is confirmed with the high number of participants in our event. We have 80 people on board in which 60 registered via UT muslims and 20 registered via Irnut which is the Iranian students association of Twente. As their keukenhof event is on the same day as ours, a collaboration was formed to ease transport matters. Our rented bus arrived at University of Twente at 7.30 am and then we picked up a few more people at ITC hotel. The journey to Keukenhof took about 2 hours and 30 minutes, thus the participants were asked to participate in some games to break the ice and get to know each other. The winners of the games got rewards and everyone got snacks as commodity. The games worked really well and the participants enjoyed the entertainment. As we arrived, many people were already present. It was expected that keukenhof would be very crowded but our tickets were already reserved online thus we did not have to endure long queue lines. The dutch weather is often unpredictable and this caused a few problems at keukenhof. Initially, it was cloudy and then it rained for about ten minutes. The weather cleared but it was still windy. Thus the warm rays of the sun were sometimes negated by the cold breeze. Nevertheless, the visitors still enjoyed the environment. Some people brought their own food and had a picnic whereas the others bought food at local restaurants. There were also many booths that sold snacks in case anyone wanted a quick bite. The view offered at keukenhof did not dissapoint, many flowers were arranged in a beatiful manner with large trees as pillars. There was also a fountain and a small zoo was present as well. Visitors could also take a boat trip with an additional fee. The were some pavilions that had some more flowers and galleries for display. We were in luck as there was a long parade as well. It was getting late so it was time to head back to Enschede. We prayed Dzuhur and Asr and boarded the bus. As the trip was long, we had some more games and this time doorprizes were given. The participants showed enthusiasm and feedback was generally positive. We finally arrived in Ensnchede the participants were dropped off at ITC hotel and University of Twente. UT Muslims would like to thank all the participants and Irnut for taking part in our event. We hope to see you again soon.
