In a joint effort, UT Muslims and the Indonesian Students Association of Enschede (PPIE) hold a trip to Giethoorn. We gather at the University of Twente Spiegel at 8.30 and ITC hotel at 8.45 where the big bus picked us up. About 80 participants took part in this event and they were from different nationalities including Indonesia, Egypt, Vietnam, Iran, Pakistan, India and Tunisia. The bus trip did not take very long, about 90 minutes. We had some games as well to entertain the participants and snacks and drinks were distributed as well. Giethoorn in a nutshell is the Venice of the Netherlands. It is a village with many canals. The vibe is very peaceful, serene and quiet. As we arrived, we took a boat trip to see an overview of the venue. The boat trip was a bit long, about one hour. It was a pleasant experience as we could see Giethoorn as a whole as the boat captain explained the details of each place. After the boat trip, it was time to explore Giethoorn by foot. There are several attractions that can be accessed here. There is the Giethoorn Museum where visitors can experience what it was like living in an old dutch house. There is a rock museum where fine crystals are displayed and a cheese shop where we are allowed to taste so many different types of cheese. It was finally time to call it a day. We left Giethoorn at around 16.15 and arrived at Enschede by 18:00 safely. Alhamdulilah, everybody had a good time and the event went according to plan. We would like to thank everyone that took part in this event and we hope to see you all again soon!
