Join us to have a hands-on experience of 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲, visual art of writing. Take a pen and start creating your first 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 masterpiece with us. Don't worry, no previous knowledge or experience of Arabic/Persian alphabet is required. Two mentors will be there to guide you. You will not only experience Islamic culture through an interesting project but will also receive a 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 for your valuable time and attendance. The workshop is 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 and are offered on 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 based on your level (knowledge of Arabic alphabet and calligraphy in general). It is still the beginning of the quarter, so might as well have some fun! Join us as we are going to cycle from Enschede to Alstatte, Germany. There we will eat together at a nice halal restaurant. After that we will cycle back to Enschede. We meet at the morroccan mosque (Tweede Emmastraat 50, 7545 MP Enschede) at 14.15 just right after dzuhur prayer.
This event is free, however note that the food will not be subsidised by UT Muslims.

Would you like to learn a language that has greatly been spoken by over 420 millions worldwide? Are you eager enough to discover in-details a one of the half dozen most populous languages in the world? Or perhaps you would achieve a certain economic, societal, or religious goal by means of learning other languages, in particular, if it was one of the six languages in the United Nation. If your answers were positive with “Yes”, then, don’t hesitate to join us and become speaker to “Arabic”, as a one of historic Semitic languages in the universe. The UT-Muslims Students Association at University of Twente is organizing an Arabic language course. The course will be delivered in 12 sessions, one and half hours each, every Thursday.
Time: (from Thursday 27 February until Thursday 22 of May) Place: (Bastille building room #4 from 18.00 - 20.00) Costs: Free A diverse of educational activities through the sessions would be included. The course will be given by native Arabic speakers, and at the end, there will be certificates for the participants who will pass the final exam. The UT Muslims organized a successful workshop (2 lectures) on 16th of May with Arabian/eastern food buffet and coffee/thee/snack reception. The talks were in English and followed by a discussion where every one asked her/his critical question. We had two speakers: first one is an international speaker, presenter, and film maker Mr. Fadel Soleyman, from Bridges foundation (http://www.bridges-foundation.org/), and the 2nd is Mr. Nourdeen Wildeman, http://nourdeenwildeman.com/. The two topics will be: Jihad in Islam, and relationships with non-muslims. The main objective of these talks is to refute the misconceptions on these topics that as a minority we feel that are not very well treated in the media in some cases.
About 100 participants joined the workshop, asked questions, and enjoyed the eastern/arabian foods

In order to feel the EID atmosphere better, as UT-Muslims we would like to celebrate Eid al-Adha together with all of you. It is open for all Muslims in Enschede.

Guided Tour & Presentation at our UT Mosque
As you already know, University of Twente is organizing Open House Event for its 50 years anniversary. On Saturday, 17.09.11 there will be a lot of presentations, experiments, lectures and guided tours in UT for visitors. Everybody who is interested in UT is welcome. So there will be different people who are children, youth and old.
UT Muslims will also join this interesting event by presenting UT Muslims and UT Mosque with information stand and guided tour to UT Mosque.

Population: 47000 Muslims: ~ 2000 Mosque: Fatih (only one) 17.07.2011 - Sunday afternoon we have gathered in two locations; in the Campus and near the DISH Hotel. We had enthusiastic brothers who are from different countries of the world. They are from Indonesia, Sudan, Tanzania, Nigeria, Pakistan and others. Although we had a bad weather prediction, the weather was PERFECT for cycling. You can see it from the photos. After starting our bicycle tour, we have stopped in Glanerbrug and in the border between the Netherlands and Germany. There is a small bridge [see the photo] that separate two countries. This photo was taken in that historical bridge. Afterwards, we have visited Fatih Mosque, which is the only one mosque of Gronau. We have met and socialize with Muslim brothers in Gronau. It was a nice friendly atmosphere with Muslim brothers in the mosque. |
