Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Hazim ibn Dinar that Abu Idris al-Khawlani said, "I entered the Damascus mosque and there was a young man with a beautiful mouth and white teeth sitting with some people. When they disagreed about something, they referred it to him and proceeded from his statement. I inquired about him, and it was said, 'This is Muadh ibn Jabal.' The next day I went to the noon-prayer, and I found that he had preceded me to the noon prayer and I found him praying."

Jemaah,
Last week’s sermon reminded us of how critical it is for every mukmin (believer) to consistently strive to contribute to the community and the country. When we talk about giving and contributing, we are not simply referring to monetary contributions. In fact, contributions also include giving our time and energy, sharing our ideas, and doing good deeds that can lead to better lives for humanity. Let us ponder upon a hadith that tells us of the contribution of a companion. Although it was a small contribution, it was done with such sincerity that it was important in the sight of Allah s.w.t. Rasulullah s.a.w. said: My beloved brothers in Islam,
Allah () has preferred some places over other places, and he has preferred some times over other times, and he has preferred some humans over other humans. In our Islamic Aqidah, a muslim is not a believer unless he believes in the messengers of Allah. We believe that these messengers are the best of humanity, the best of all mankind. Out of these prophets and messengers, Allah () has preferred some of them over each other. Allah () says in Surat AlBaqarah: Those messengers - some of them We caused to exceed others. Among them were those to whom Allah spoke, and He raised some of them in degree. Allah swore in His Book that all people are losers and shall enter Hell except those who believe in Allah, do righteously, and commend one another with the truth and patience. Allah (Glory be to Him) says:
UT Muslims has its third trip for this year and this time we went to Belgium! We rented two cars and gathered at the spiegel building at 17.30 on Friday 10 November 2017. The journey was about 300 km and took about 3.5 hours. We took a quick bite for dinner and were immediately on our way to Brussels.
The surah that I red before is the five first ayah of Surah Luqman. Surah Luqman is delivered in Makkah. It was revealed after Surat As-Saffaat and comes after Surat Ar-Rum in the Qur’an. It consists of 34 ayahs. In this khutbah we will try to explore some messages on this Surah. The purpose of the Surah can be derived from its name, which shows us Luqman’s rearing of his son and advising him as mentioned in the Surah. It is the Surah of child rearing that conveys wonderful methods to raise them according to Allah’s (SWT) Decree. It comprehensively discusses child rearing from a religious and worldly standpoint.
It covers 6 aspects 1. Tawheed (Monotheism) of Allah (SWT) 2. Being dutiful to one’s parents 3. The importance of worship and reactivity 4. Understanding the realities of the world 5. Good behavior and manners 6. Planning one’s life In the opening verse of Sura An-Nisaa’, Allah says:
Fear your lord Who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, his mate and from the two of them scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;― Be conscious of Allah, through Whom ye demand your mutual (rights) and (show reverence towards) the wombs (that bore you): for surely, Allah ever watches over you.” It is the main message that Allah send the people through all his messengers And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me." |
